Baseline Massage
A grounded bodywork system for pressure, recovery, comfort, and physical regulation.
Baseline bodywork

Pressure, warmth, recovery, regulation.

This page treats massage as a practical system rather than a luxury mood. The aim is to use touch, pressure, pace, and heat to help the body downshift without forcing aggressive change.

The baseline rule is simple: work with the nervous system first, then the tissue. Pressure should create useful feedback, not a battle against pain.

Pressure ladderStart broad and light, build slowly, then return to broad pressure before finishing.
Warmth before depthHeat and repetition prepare tissue better than forcing deep work too early.
Exit cleanlyA session should finish settled, not overstimulated, sore, or confused.

Massage Methods

  • Broad palm compression: steady pressure through large contact area.
  • Slow glide: controlled movement using oil or balm when friction needs reducing.
  • Static hold: unmoving pressure for areas that guard or brace.
  • Edge work: smaller contact only after the body has accepted broader pressure.

When to stay light

Stay lighter around sharp pain, recent strain, inflammation, numbness, illness, unexplained swelling, or when the body starts bracing harder against the work.

This page is for general bodywork planning, not medical diagnosis.

Recovery Logic

RegulateBreathing slows, muscles stop guarding, and the person feels present.
MobiliseGentle movement and glide restore comfort without chasing pain.
RecoverHydration, warmth, rest, and gentle motion complete the session.

Session Structure

  • Check goal and sensitivity before touch.
  • Begin with broad contact and slow pressure.
  • Work one region at a time instead of chasing every tight spot.
  • Return to broad calming pressure after detailed work.
  • Finish with recovery notes: warmth, water, movement, rest.

Pressure scale

1–3: calming and preparatory.
4–6: useful working pressure.
7: only briefly, only if the body stays relaxed.
8–10: avoid for baseline bodywork.

Good massage should leave the body clearer, warmer, and easier to inhabit.
